Snaith Primary School

The Queens' Platinum Jubilee

On Friday 27th May at Snaith Primary School we celebrated The Queens Platinum Jubilee.

During the week all children (ages 3-11) in their Design and Technology / Art lessons, created some amazing pieces of work.  These included, painting the Queen’s portrait, making miniature Jubilee coaches, and a recreating a model of the Coronation Coach.   They also created stained-glass windows and, inspired by the Coronation Robe,  after researching the floral emblems of  the Commonwealth countries, embroidered their own Platinum Jubilee Robe.  During the day children and staff held a street party in the school grounds adorned with bunting including the flags of the Commonwealth.  Before eating, the children sang the National Anthem and were then served a Royal banquet which was definitely fit for a Queen created by the talented kitchen staff of Snaith Primary School.  After lunch, children planted an Oak Tree as part of The Queens Green Canopy. This was planted by the youngest child, the eldest child and longest serving member of staff.  The afternoon was rounded off with a giant 340 person, whole school Hokey Cokey.
