PUPIL PREMIUM BUDGET

Pupil premium is additional funding for schools to support them in raising the attainment of disadvantaged pupils of all abilities and to diminish the difference between them and their peers.

For 2018/19 the Government have allocated £1320 per pupil for deprivation, £300 per pupil for service children and £1900 per pupil for post looked after children.

Children feeling more settled and emotional lay secure. For some children this has led to improved attendance. Overall children having their emotional needs met has enabled them to engage more readily with learning.

For children to be able to access curriculum enhancing opportunities in order to widen and build aspirations as well as self-confidence.

Throughout the year all pupil premium children have had the opportunity to participate in   enhanced curriculum experiences leading to increased self-confidence and aspiration.

To improve attainment and progress through regular attendance.

Careful monitoring by school administrator and head teacher.

Phone calls, meetings and letters to parents.

Work with outside medical support teams for specific individuals where medical need affects attendance.

Provision of work and resources for children when not in school.

In most cases where persistent absence was a concern – there has been a reduction. Where this is not the case there are other circumstances which are affecting factors – mainly children multiple disadvantage – attending medical appointments or absent through medical condition.   

To improve the quality of basic skills literacy skills through specific intervention programmes outlined below.

 

Children involved in these programmes have demonstrated substantial progress from respective starting points.

Basic skill development - Beat Dyslexia

 

Beat Dyslexia programme

1:1 daily intervention by designated adult

Catch up Literacy Programme Y3-6

Reading clubs

Significant increase in children’s enthusiasm for reading and in their reading fluency, especially at KS1. Children on specific literacy programmes show substantial increase in reading age score – from baseline score.

To improve knowledge, proficiency and basic skills in Maths. 

Rock star Times table Challenge.

1:1 support – specific intervention programmes, including for GT children.

Children have opportunity to be part of community events and council projects. They have been inspired by a Science fortnight – which invited people from the world of work to share their application of Science in their line of work.

This has generally raised children’s aspirations.
