PSHE including RHSE
As a part of your child’s educational experience at Snaith Primary School, we continue to promote personal wellbeing and development through a comprehensive taught programme of Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) incorporating statutory Relationship Education and Health Education and the advisory Sex Education (RHSE). This gives children and young people the knowledge, understanding, attitudes and practical skills to live healthy, safe, productive and fulfilled lives, both now and in the future.
From September 2021 Relationship, Health (and Sex) Education - RHSE- will become statutory. This means it must be taught by law. The guidance (available on our school website) focuses on healthy relationships and keeping children safe in the modern world. It also covers a wide range of topics relating to physical and mental health, wellbeing and safeguarding. Learning about the emotional, social and physical aspects of growing up will give children and young people the information, skills and positive values to have safe, fulfilling relationships and help them take responsibility for their own well-being. The primary programme that we use for the delivery of this curriculum is the Jigsaw programme of study. (Please see leaflet attached.)
As a result, we have reviewed our Personal, Social, Health Education (PSHE) curriculum which incorporates Relationship, Health and Sex Education and policy and provision, all available on our website, taking into account provision that is appropriate for our pupils based on their:
• Physical and emotional maturity
• Religious and cultural backgrounds
• Special educational needs and disabilities
Please see attached our draft policy, curriculum map and leaflet for parents regarding the Jigsaw program.
