Our Class Team

Mrs Sherlock and Mrs Clarkson share the role of class teacher. Mrs Sherlock works in class on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday whilst Mrs Clarkson takes the reigns on a Thursday and Friday. The teachers and children in our class are supported brilliantly by the wonderful Ms McLaughlin and Mrs Selkirk.

Reading

In our class, children are expected to bring in their reading books every day and take them home every evening. There will be opportunities to read these books on a daily basis and children may be asked to read to an adult at various times of the week. When a child has finished their reading book they need to change it and make sure that this is logged in their reading record. We ask that children complete 20 minutes of reading at home each day please.

Spellings

Spellings will be handed out on a Friday and tested the following Friday. Spelling books should be brought into school every day as there will be opportunities for the children to engage with and learn their spellings each day in class. It is essential that spelling books are brought into school on a Friday so the children can be tested and given their new spellings.

PE

A suitable school PE kit needs to be in school at all times. We have timetabled PE on a Wednesday and Thursday, but we often take the opportunity for additional exercise on other days too. There are also many clubs on offer at lunchtime which the children will need to have their PE kit available for.

Homework

In Year 4, the children have a weekly homework task, either for Maths or Reading Comprehension. The homework is handed out every Friday and needs to be returned by the following Thursday. If the children would like any help with their homework they are welcome to come and see their class teacher about this on a Tuesday lunchtime and we will be happy to support them in completing it. We also set regular times table challenges which will be followed up in class.

If you want to practise your maths, why not take a look at some of the maths games here.
