Snaith Primary School

Monday 30th March

We hope you have all had a lovely weekend.

Unfortunately, the sunshine has disappeared but hopefully it will be back soon.

Now for your learning at home this week we have decided to change things up a bit. As a school we have decided to choose a different theme each week and link all the activities to that theme.

Also, instead of posting a new piece of work for you to do each day, we are going to post all of the wonderful activities you could do every Sunday during term time.

Then, you can choose what you want to do and which day you would like to do it. You may even want to add in some of your own ideas linked to the theme.

Drum roll please . . . . . . . . . . . .

Our first theme is CHOCOLATE!

You can:

* Design your own chocolate bar wrapper.

* Write a recipe for your own chocolate bar. We wonder what you would put in your own chocolate bars?

* Design a poster to advertise (help to sell) your own chocolate bar.

* Find out where chocolate comes from (see below for help if needed)

* Make a fact book about chocolate

(If you have access to a laptop or computer you might want to use PowerPoint to create your fact book)

* Science experiment ‘Changing State’ (see below)

* Learn how to make hot chocolate (see below for help if needed)

* Write instructions for your teddy bear to make hot chocolate

* Design your own chocolate factory

* Make your own chocolate factory (junk modelling)

* Carry out a survey of your family members to find out what their favourite chocolate bars are. You could use a tally chart or a block graph to show your findings

We have saved the worst activity until last:

* To taste different chocolate bars and or chocolate biscuits and decide which is your favourite.

(We did something similar to this when we started looking at ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’. Do you remember?

We gave you 5 different types of confectionery and you had to draw each one then write down words to describe how each one smelt, felt and tasted. Then you had to decide what your favourite was and say why.)

Children  - Remember, it is up to your grown-ups as to how many of the chocolate activities you do and when.

Grown-ups - Please know that we do NOT expect you do all of these activities.

Feel free to pick 1 or maybe even 2 activities to do each day, in any order.

We really wish that we could all be together as we would have had such fun teaching you these chocolate activities. However, we understand that we can’t all be together at the moment.

All we hope is that you have fun finding out about chocolate.
