This weeks attendance 97.5%

NSPCC

This week, following assemblies on Monday delivering the message ‘Stay Safe, Speak Out’, we were visited by the NSPCC representatives who lead workshops with Y2 and Y5/6 classes. The assemblies and sessions helped the children gain a greater understanding of their own rights, responsibilities for themselves and others and know who to turn to if they ever felt unsafe.

Swimming Gala

On Thursday, some of the children in Year 5/6 took part in a Snaith Primary Swimming Gala. Children had a great time racing against each other.  Staff, including our SSCO, was very impressed with the children’s behaviour and organisation. We look forward to some children now representing our school at the East Riding swimming competition in Beverley.

In addition:

The teachers were extremely impressed with the facilities at Askern Leisure Centre and are looking forward to taking the Year 4 children there for their swimming lessons. The water was of a nice temperature, the flooring around the pool and the changing facilities were all of a high clean standard.

French Language competition

This week Mr Clarkson and Mrs Radmall held our in-house French Language competition. Ten children demonstrated their fantastic linguistic skills in KS2 assembly. In true ‘Mastermind’ style (music included as each brave contestant entered the room to take the chair) children, individually, were given words in English to translate into French and to see who could accurately translate the most words in one minute. The winners will be announced in school next week and practice will begin in earnest for the next round, which will see a team of four Snaith students compete against other schools in the Local Authority. A huge ‘Tres bien’ to all children who took part. I can tell you the competition was steep!

Curriculum updates and overview

In addition to the information we share each week on Class Dojo, please see the school website for this terms overview of what children are learning about in each year group.

WHATSAPP

While children of primary school age should not be accessing WhatsApp due to the age restriction, I am aware that some children do use this social media platform.  Therefore,  please see the information below giving details of ‘what parents & carers need to know about WhatsApp’.  Furthermore, since receiving this poster, the media have reported today,  that on Thursday of this week, Meta has reduced the age limit from 16 to 13!

Baby News

We are delighted to share the news that Mrs Johnson,  last week, gave birth to a beautiful baby boy, George.   We know you will join with us in sending her and her husband our congratulations and very best wishes.
