SCHOOL CLOSES TODAY FOR THE HALF TERM BREAK.
SCHOOL RE-OPENS TO CHILDREN ON MONDAY 1ST JUNE.
THANK YOU
for supporting us!
Tough Runner Final Total £6155.
Developing our outdoor area and playtimes.
To support the development of our outdoor area. I have recently visited other schools who have already substantially extended their provision. I will be sharing these ideas with the children after half term, so we can begin planning further. I will of course keep you updated on the changes we are making.
Toys at Playtime
While we ask that children do not bring toys to school for obvious reasons of loss or breakage, children may bring loom bands, colouring books or a reading book only from home at your discretion. Some children are enjoying these quieter activities.
Top Soil and Pallets
To support our outdoor project, alongside our Tough Runner sponsorship money, can we please ask if anyone has, or knows of anyone, who has 2-3 tonnes of top soil for our outside area. We are also looking for wooden and plastic pallets to be donated if anyone has any.
Payments – Wraparound Care, School Meals & Nursery
Please ensure all wraparound care sessions taken to the end of May are paid up to date.
As we will be entering the last half term of this year, please take the time to look at any money owing. This MUST be cleared by the end of the academic year to avoid a late payment fee.
Attendance Update
On Tuesday an email was sent updating you on your child’s attendance year to date.
Please can I remind you, an Absence from School for Exceptional Circumstances Request Form must be completed for any absence from school, even if this is for just one session. This must be submitted to the school prior to any planned absence, we do require a form completing for all term time absences for safeguarding reasons, as we have a legal duty to know the whereabouts of children during the school term at all times.
A form is not required for medical appointments, but we do require to see a copy of the appointment.
Penalty Notice Fines are only considered if a child has 10 sessions of unauthorised absence in 10 school weeks. If a child is collected mid-session for a term-time holiday/weekend, the whole session will be unauthorised.
Medical appointment letters/text must be shown to the office when requesting early collection or late arrivals.
You are able to access the school’s attendance policy via our website or clicking the link below.

Please see the flyer attached – Every School Day Matters! A copy of the absence form is also attached. This can also be found on the school website.

Non Uniform Day – Friday 5th June
After the holidays we will be in our final half term of the school year. The PTA are busy organising fundraising events and raffles for the end of term. With this in mind, on Friday 5th June children are able to come to school in non-uniform in exchange for a raffle prize for the summer raffle. Please see the PTA poster below/attached for an idea of donations. This can be something very small, we really appreciate anything you can give, but please do not let this deter you from sending your child in non-uniform.
Handwashing
The children in the Reception Class, Year 1 & 2 had a handwashing session delivered to them by the school nursing team today. Children were able to apply an ultraviolet indicator lotion to their hands and used a light box to see the bacteria on their hands.
PUBLIC HEALTH INFORMATION
The Children’s Toothbrushing Guide
Did you know that removal of decayed teeth is the most common operation for children aged five to nine?
Brushing children's teeth as soon as the first tooth appears helps develop good oral habits from childhood to adulthood.
View the toothbrushing resources.

Half Term Activity Pack
We’re delighted to share the Trans-Pennine Activity Pack with you.
Their brand‑new Kids’ May Half Term Activity Pack, filled with fun nature‑themed activities including an i-Spy challenge, planting seeds, a recipe and a puzzle for families to enjoy during the holiday. It’s a great way to inspire children to get creative, explore the outdoors, and learn more about the outdoors and the Trans Pennine Trail.
With colourful characters leading the way, this activity pack inspires kids to discover spring wildlife, get creative, and enjoy the magic of the outdoors. There are opportunities to share their adventures and to earn a digital certificate.
The packs are ideal for Key Stage 1 and 2, but there’s something for everyone. They’re perfect for use on the Trail, in your local park, or even indoors on a rainy day. Every pack is designed to help everyone learn, play, and make memories while exploring the outdoors.
The activity pack can be used ‘on the go’ by downloading it to a mobile or can be printed at home.
Download it from our Children’s page at: Welcome to our Children’s Page | Trans Pennine Trail

Please can I remind parents that school is not able to authorise any holidays during term time. Therefore, it is important to consult these dates before making any booking. Penalty Notice Fines are issued on a per parent per child basis for term time leave of 5 (10 sessions) or more consecutive days.
As school is in session during these times, if your child does not attend school due to an unauthorised absence, school will not provide work for this period of time as children are expected to attend school to undertake their learning.
Penalty Notice Fines are also considered, if a child has 10 sessions of unauthorised absence in 10 school weeks. If a child is collected mid-session for a term-time holiday, the whole session will be unauthorised.
We are committed to improving achievement through attendance, and any pupil whose attendance falls below 97% becomes a cause for concern. Attendance below 90% is classed by the Government as persistent absence. If a child’s attendance falls below 90% we refer all cases to the Education Welfare Office at East Riding Council, who is likely to contact parents directly to give support and discuss the matter.
(Parent, in relation to a child or young person, includes any person who is not a parent of the child but who has parental responsibility for the child, or who has care of them).
