This Week’s Attendance 97.5%

Year 6 SATs

Next week Year 6 children will be undertaking their SAT tests.  I know they have all been working extremely hard and have no doubt they will embrace them with confidence and give their best. We are extremely proud of the attitude they have shown and they should feel excited to share their wonderful skills and knowledge, fuelled by bacon sandwiches (vegetarian/vegan alternatives available) and sweet treats too!

We look forward to welcoming them for their special SAT’s breakfast! Year 6 children should come to the main door, which will open at 8.30am.

I wish you all the very best of luck. Enjoy your time to shine. I have no doubt that you will!

Anti-Bullying Ambassador Programme Training

On Wednesday, 10 Year 5 children attended The Snaith School for the full day to undertake the Diana Anti-Bullying award. The programme is designed to empower pupils with the skills and confidence to lead positive change and support others within the school community to treat one another with respect.  We are so proud of the maturity the children undertaking the training demonstrated, complimented by staff from another high school also attending the training! We also look forward to them sharing their knowledge and skills with the rest of school.

British Seaside

On Thursday the Seaside came to Snaith Primary School!  Year 1 and 2 had a wonderful day learning about seaside holidays in the past, designing and making boats which they enjoyed testing, competing with each other, along with undertaking activities such as seaweed art!  All rounded off with a seaside ice lollipop treat! The company running the event complimented the children on how fantastic they all were and shared it had been a joy to be at our school. Well done year 1 and 2!

Snacks at Break Time

For breaktimes, children in KS2 can bring a healthy snack, please can I remind you these can only be a piece of fruit or cereal bar. Cereal bars must be nut free.

SPORT

Swimming

Well done to the 12 children who took part at the SSP Swimming Finals at Beverley Leisure Centre on Tuesday morning.

The children gave it their all against some very good opposition to take 8th place overall. The standard was high as usual!

A special shout out to a year 5 child who made an individual final after recording a top 8 time. A great achievement!

Girls Cricket

Congratulations are also in order for all the girls who played at the cluster cricket event at Carlton Towers Cricket Club on Tuesday evening.

The B team finished joint third after winning their final game.

The A team finished first after winning all three of their games.

Both teams showed great determination and improved with every game. Lots of accurate bowling, tidy fielding and assertive batting was on show. Well done everyone!

Thank you to Carlton Towers Cricket Club for hosting and to Mrs Willden and her young leaders for organising another great event.

An Absence from School for Exceptional Circumstances Request Form, must be completed for all absences (not medical).  https://www.snaithprimary.org.uk/page/?title=Attendance+%26amp%3B+Punctuality&pid=77

Please can I remind parents that school is not able to authorise any holidays during term time. Therefore, it is important to consult these dates before making any booking.  Penalty Notice Fines are issued on a per parent per child basis for term time leave of 5 (10 sessions) or more consecutive days.

As school is in session during these times, if your child does not attend school due to an unauthorised absence, school will not provide work for this period of time as children are expected to attend school to undertake their learning.

Penalty Notice Fines are also considered, if a child has 10 sessions of unauthorised absence in 10 school weeks. If a child is collected mid-session for a term-time holiday, the whole session will be unauthorised.

We are committed to improving achievement through attendance, and any pupil whose attendance falls below 97% becomes a cause for concern.  Attendance below 90% is classed by the Government as persistent absence. If a child’s attendance falls below 90% we refer all cases to the Education Welfare Office at East Riding Council, who is likely to contact parents directly to give support and discuss the matter.

(Parent, in relation to a child or young person, includes any person who is not a parent of the child but who has parental responsibility for the child, or who has care of them).
