Year 5/6 Eden Camp
This week year 5/6 had a wonderful visit to Eden Camp. Their experiences will greatly support and enhance their learning in the classroom. The staff also complimented their fantastic manners and behaviour.
Medication and Medical Forms
If your child has a medical need (eg asthma, anaphylaxis, allergy, epilepsy etc) you should have received the corresponding form to complete and return. If you haven’t returned this form please can you do so as a matter of urgency. If you haven’t received a form and need one, please contact the school office. Can I also ask you to check that any medication required to be left in school (eg inhalers, Epi-pens, anti-histamine for allergic reactions) are in school - we have had a few forms returned but no inhalers provided. If you have any questions regarding any of this please contact the school office.

Hero
What type of messages can be sent to the teacher and when?
- Information about your own child’s learning or welfare needs.
- Quick questions related to learning or homework.
- Non urgent welfare information
- A special achievement in or out of school that you would like to share.
Please be mindful to keep your messages polite and send at a sociable time.
Our teachers are our best resource and we always wish to protect their wellbeing.
Teachers are busy during the school day preparing and delivering learning, in meetings, supporting welfare times etc and may not be able to answer your messages straight away. Staff will also not be able to access/reply to messages late in the evening or at weekends in the interests of everyone’s wellbeing.
If your message is urgent, pertaining to absence, a change of someone collecting your child, medical information or of a confidential nature, please email (or in an emergency call) the school office who can relay the information to the relevant members of staff as the office emails are monitored more frequently
If you are having problems with HERO, please see Mr Pickering. He is at his classroom door most mornings or afternoons. Or please email him via the school email snaith.primary@eastriding.gov.uk
No Dogs
Please can we remind you that dogs should not be brought on to the school site. Please share this information with others who may bring/collect your child. Thank you.
Birthday Celebrations
If you wish to send a class treat to school when it is your child’s birthday, please can these be pre-bagged and due to allergens, include dietary information. As special as it is, unfortunately, we cannot accept whole cakes as we do not have the time or resources to cut this up and serve or wrap to take home. Sealed , small bags of sweets to be distributed at the end of the day will suffice.
PTA News
Pre-Loved Uniform Sale
The PTA will be holding a pre-loved uniform sale after school on Monday 22nd September alongside the Bunday Monday. They currently have a shortage of ages 6, 7 and 8 years (other sizes are also welcome). If you have any uniform you would like to donate, please bring to the school office. We will leave a donations box by the entrance to the office. Thank you.
Bunday Monday – Year 5
If you are not familiar with this, we ask on selected dates for parents from year groups to donate buns/cakes for the PTA to sell in the playground after school for a small donation.
These can be homemade or shop bought. Some of our children have food allergies, if you are making buns which are dairy/gluten for example, please could these be labelled clearly and can we request NO NUTS or PEAS! If you are putting your baked goods in a container you want back, please label it with your child’s name and class. On your selected day, please hand to the class teacher who will keep them safe until the end of the school day. An Absence from School for Exceptional Circumstances Request Form, must be completed for all absences (not medical). https://www.snaithprimary.org.uk/page/?title=Attendance+%26amp%3B+Punctuality&pid=77
Please can I remind parents that school is not able to authorise any holidays during term time. Therefore, it is important to consult these dates before making any booking. Penalty Notice Fines are issued on a per parent per child basis for term time leave of 5 (10 sessions) or more consecutive days.
As school is in session during these times, if your child does not attend school due to an unauthorised absence, school will not provide work for this period of time as children are expected to attend school to undertake their learning.
Penalty Notice Fines are also considered, if a child has 10 sessions of unauthorised absence in 10 school weeks.
We are committed to improving achievement through attendance, and any pupil whose attendance falls below 97% becomes a cause for concern. Attendance below 90% is classed by the Government as persistent absence. If a child’s attendance falls below 90% we refer all cases to the Education Welfare Office at East Riding Council, who is likely to contact parents directly to give support and discuss the matter.
(Parent, in relation to a child or young person, includes any person who is not a parent of the child but who has parental responsibility for the child, or who has care of them).
