School Reports
Your child was given their mid-year school report yesterday to bring home. We will be seeking feedback going forwards on the new terminology used to identify how well your child is achieving.
We have a very busy week ahead!
Parents Evening
Parents Evenings are taking place next week. If you have not already made an appointment, the link for making a booking is https://snaithprimary.live.pogoprogress.co.uk/
Termly Support Plans
For parents of children with Termly Support Plans, teachers are contacting you directly to book an appointment to review learning, please do not book a parent evening slot.
School Photographs
On Tuesday 3rd March, Braiswick Photography will be in school, taking a ‘Free Pose’ photograph of your child, these images are then collated to create a class group photograph. Sibling photographs were taken in October and therefore are not taken at this session.
The ordering process is online, parents of the school are given a proof card, giving a code to login to the school Braiswick account to view and order the photographs. Parents are also able to look at the other class photographs.
Therefore, we would like to check if you would like your child/children to be included in their school class photograph.
We will be contacting parents directly who have currently opted out of online photography and these children will NOT be included in the class photograph unless we hear otherwise.
On this day, please ensure your child comes to school in their School Uniform (not PE kit), PE lessons will be adjusted accordingly.
Nursery – If your child does not attend nursery on a Tuesday morning, you are more than welcome to bring them to school for their photograph taking.
World Book Week
Our Theme for book week, Monday 2nd – Friday 6th March, will be Roald Dahl – Revolting Rhymes
During the week, children will be learning about the author Roald Dahl as well as the illustrator Quinten Blake, comparing the ‘revolting rhymes’ to the traditional stories and having the opportunity to create their own stories in the style of Dahl and art work in the style of Blake, along with a host of other activities and a special end of week treat!
Dress Up day Friday 6th March as a character from the world of Roald Dahl.
On Friday 6th March, we are inviting children (and staff) to dress up as a character from the stories of Roald Dahl. This does not need to be a bought costume as there are many characters that ‘own clothes’ and/or a homemade mask can work well for, as well as being eco-friendly. Ideas were sent on the HERO home school app.
Competition Time!!! Create your own Roald Dahl inspired character.
This year we are inviting all children to create their own Roald Dahl inspired character.
Design/draw your character in the style of Quentin Blake. Describe your character or create a short story about the character. (Things to think about: what the character looks like, how they dress, walk, talk, behave etc. to reveal their personality.)
The competition will be judged by Mrs. Calpin. There will be a small acknowledgment for everyone who enters and prizes per each year group. Please remember to put your name on your entry, year group and class. Entries need to be in by Friday 6th March.
The Scholastic Book Fayre will be in school from Wednesday 11th March.
National Child Measurement Programme – Friday 6th March
Every year in England, school children in Reception and Year 6 have their height and weight checked at school as part of the National Child Measurement Programme. Height and weight measurements are used to calculate weight status and help us nationally and locally to provide the support children and families may need to maintain a healthy weight.
A reminder if you have not opted out, these will be taking place in school on Friday 6th March. I would like to reiterate; this information is not disclosed to the pupils or anyone else in school, only one child at a time has their weight and height taken in a private area in school.
Plastic Bottle Tops
Today we had a huge donation of plastic bottle tops from a member of our school community, this has boosted our collection massively. Thank you to everyone who is collecting for us, please continue to collect. For every kilogram of bottle tops collected, the school earns 250 Earth Tokens. Tokens can be exchanged for items of furniture, play equipment, signage or other recycled plastic items from their catalogue.
Family Help Community Practitioner – Drop in session
The Family Help Community Practitioner will be visiting school again on Friday 20th March 9-11am. Lottie Brocklesby is our new Family Help School and Community Practitioner. Last time she operated drop in sessions, this time to ensure privacy and also to ensure you are not waiting around we will operate a booking system for this.
Please contact the school office to book an appointment time (approx. 30-minute slots) if you would like to meet with her.
A Family Help Community Practitioner is a frontline professional who provides early intervention and support to children and families who may have some concerns, questions or queries about their child’s development, with the aim of preventing concerns escalating and focusing on strengths, child's voice, and positive parenting.
As part of her role, Lottie can offer advice and signpost families in the area to services which may be of support. Lottie is again looking forward to meeting our families.
Family Pets
Please can I remind you, pets are not allowed on the school site! If you are waiting at the school gates with a dog, please stand away from the gate and do not tether your dog close to the entrance gates when dropping off or collecting your child from their classroom. Please share this information with other family members who come to school on your behalf. Thank you.
Bikes/Scooters
Children are NOT to ride their bikes or scooter on the school site. Children are to walk with these until outside of the school grounds. Thank you.

An Absence from School for Exceptional Circumstances Request Form, must be completed for all absences (not medical). https://www.snaithprimary.org.uk/page/?title=Attendance+%26amp%3B+Punctuality&pid=77
Please can I remind parents that school is not able to authorise any holidays during term time. Therefore, it is important to consult these dates before making any booking. Penalty Notice Fines are issued on a per parent per child basis for term time leave of 5 (10 sessions) or more consecutive days.
As school is in session during these times, if your child does not attend school due to an unauthorised absence, school will not provide work for this period of time as children are expected to attend school to undertake their learning.
Penalty Notice Fines are also considered, if a child has 10 sessions of unauthorised absence in 10 school weeks.
We are committed to improving achievement through attendance, and any pupil whose attendance falls below 97% becomes a cause for concern. Attendance below 90% is classed by the Government as persistent absence. If a child’s attendance falls below 90% we refer all cases to the Education Welfare Office at East Riding Council, who is likely to contact parents directly to give support and discuss the matter.
(Parent, in relation to a child or young person, includes any person who is not a parent of the child but who has parental responsibility for the child, or who has care of them).
