This Week’s Attendance 96.6%

PGL

We’ve had a fantastic 3 days with the children at PGL and are incredibly proud of them.  We have had many compliments about their behaviour manners and team work been lovely to see how they’ve worked together and supported each other as a group.  Massive thanks our staff who have made this happen.  Wish everybody a relaxing weekend.  I’m sure they’ll be shattered.

Football

We are aware the high school are letting children in later on Monday morning.  While we appreciate many parents may have been watching the football, our assumption is that it is likely to be too late for our children to be watching and therefore we will open as usual on Monday Morning.

Money owing

Can we please remind you to ensure your balances for wraparound care, school meals and nursery are paid up by the end of the school year.

Class Transition

Children should be bringing home the information about their new classes on Monday following an opportunity of meeting their new teachers and class friends Monday morning.

Cricket competition

We are incredibly proud of our Year 4 boys who represented the school at the Yorkshire Cricket Finals. Throughout the competition, the team played some excellent cricket, showing great skill, determination, and teamwork.  The boys played their hearts out in every match, never gave up, and continually encouraged and cheered one another on. Their positive attitude and resilience were a credit to themselves and the school.

After a fantastic day of cricket against some of the best teams in the county, the boys achieved an outstanding 4th place finish in Yorkshire.

A huge congratulations to all the players for their hard work, sportsmanship, and effort. We are extremely proud of their achievement.

SUMMER READING CHALLENGE

Please see details from East Riding Libraries

It’s the UK’s biggest reading for pleasure programme for children aged 4 to 11, delivered via public libraries. Children can sign up for free at their local library or online.  In 2025, over 575,000 children took part. Together, we can make 2026 even bigger and get even more children fired up about reading!

The Read to the Beat theme and interest pathways   Sing from the rooftops! We’re so thrilled that the theme for the Summer Reading Challenge 2026 will be music.  Our exciting partnership with Universal Music Group UK will open doors for children to explore the creative power of reading and music. The link between music and storytelling runs deep. Think rhythm, self-expression, and creativity. Children will have the opportunity to hear from inspiring musicians at the top of their game, championing the joy of reading.

The official Read to the Beat Collection includes books about musicians, characters discovering music, sound science, cultural traditions, rhythm, storytelling through sound, breaking down barriers to music, creative expression and following your dreams.

 The Summer Reading Challenge:

Significantly improves children’s reading skills and confidence as well as reading enjoyment

Prevents the summer ‘dip’ in reading and aids the successful transition to new year groups and key stages

During last year’s Challenge, children read almost 12 million books

It’s simple and free for every child to take part, and libraries run free activities for families throughout the holidays

Aids the successful transition between year groups and key stages

Contributes to all pupils’ achievement and encourages extra-curricular activity

For children who took part in 2025:

97% of participants increased or maintained reading enjoyment

73% read more over the summer – and 98% are now reading every day or nearly every day

62% of families talk more together about books and reading

How it works:

Children can sign up at their local   East Riding library, where they will receive a special sticker booklet

They set a summer reading goal and choose books, eBooks, or audiobooks of their choice – logging their reading will earn rewards such as stickers, bookmarks and special edition collector cards.

Libraries will be running a programme of free themed events and activities!

Children who complete the Challenge are presented with a certificate and a medal.

Children can take part online if they prefer! www.summerreadingchallenge.org.uk

An Absence from School for Exceptional Circumstances Request Form, must be completed for all absences (not medical).  https://www.snaithprimary.org.uk/page/?title=Attendance+%26amp%3B+Punctuality&pid=77

Please can I remind parents that school is not able to authorise any holidays during term time. Therefore, it is important to consult these dates before making any booking.  Penalty Notice Fines are issued on a per parent per child basis for term time leave of 5 (10 sessions) or more consecutive days.

As school is in session during these times, if your child does not attend school due to an unauthorised absence, school will not provide work for this period of time as children are expected to attend school to undertake their learning.

Penalty Notice Fines are also considered, if a child has 10 sessions of unauthorised absence in 10 school weeks. If a child is collected mid-session for a term-time holiday, the whole session will be unauthorised.

We are committed to improving achievement through attendance, and any pupil whose attendance falls below 97% becomes a cause for concern.  Attendance below 90% is classed by the Government as persistent absence. If a child’s attendance falls below 90% we refer all cases to the Education Welfare Office at East Riding Council, who is likely to contact parents directly to give support and discuss the matter.

(Parent, in relation to a child or young person, includes any person who is not a parent of the child but who has parental responsibility for the child, or who has care of them).
