This Week’s Attendance 92%

Sports Day – Friday 19th June

What a great day it has been watching children (parents and teachers) enjoying the races today. A huge well done to everyone for taking part. Thank you to Mr Constantine and team for their organisation. It is also lovely to see the older children supporting the younger children. Thank you also to the PTA for their support with refreshments today and for the, very welcome, ice lollies for the children after the events.

Raffle ticket prize draw

Your child should have brought home a book of raffle tickets this week.  Please contact the office if they haven’t and you would like one.  This will be drawn on Thursday 16th July.   Star prize, family pass for Cannon Hall Farm.

Teddy Tombola

We are pleased to tell you the Year 2 girls have raised a whopping £116.60 with their tombola raffle which they will use to buy some resources to benefit school.  We will let you know how the money has been spent.

Lifestyle

We had a visit from PC Turner, Humberside Police this week to talk to the Year 5 and 6 children about their Lifestyle initiative.

Lifestyle is Humberside Police's longest-running youth event, and it's all about you! Since 1989, we've been supporting young people in making a positive impact in their communities each summer.

Every year, young participants take on cool and inspiring projects, from awareness campaigns and public space clean-ups to charity fundraising and community support.

Your dedication and teamwork help make your neighbourhoods better places to live.

"Lifestyle is great for young people to achieve success in areas they feel are valuable to them. It connects everyone involved with their community and the city they live in. It gives everyone involved a sense of purpose and pride."

All and any further information can be found at https://humbersidepolicelifestyle.co.uk/

Safety information links

KS 2 children were reminded on Monday in assembly of the need to vigilent and road safe aware when out and about, following some recently reported ‘near misses’. Please ensure that you also have conversations with your children around this.

We very grateful to the fire service who presented an assembly this week on water safety.

Bag 2 School – Friday 26th June

The PTA have arranged for a ‘Bag 2 School’ collection for Friday 26th June.  Bag 2 School is a company that specialise in good quality second hand clothing that can be re-used.  You are able to fill any bag, it does not have to be a Bag 2 School bag.  All bags are weighed and we will be paid by the total weight collected.  Due to storage space, please DO NOT bring your bags to school before this date.  On the day, please leave your bag on the grass area by the school gates before 9am.  Thank you.

PTA AGM

The PTA will be holding their Annual General Meeting at 2pm on Friday 10th July at Snaith Primary School.  Everyone welcome.

SUMMER READING CHALLENGE

Please see details from East Riding Libraries

It’s the UK’s biggest reading for pleasure programme for children aged 4 to 11, delivered via public libraries. Children can sign up for free at their local library or online.

In 2025, over 575,000 children took part. Together, we can make 2026 even bigger and get even more children fired up about reading!

The Read to the Beat theme and interest pathways   Sing from the rooftops! We’re so thrilled that the theme for the Summer Reading Challenge 2026 will be music.  Our exciting partnership with Universal Music Group UK will open doors for children to explore the creative power of reading and music. The link between music and storytelling runs deep. Think rhythm, self-expression, and creativity. Children will have the opportunity to hear from inspiring musicians at the top of their game, championing the joy of reading.

The official Read to the Beat Collection includes books about musicians, characters discovering music, sound science, cultural traditions, rhythm, storytelling through sound, breaking down barriers to music, creative expression and following your dreams.

 The Summer Reading Challenge:

Significantly improves children’s reading skills and confidence as well as reading enjoyment

Prevents the summer ‘dip’ in reading and aids the successful transition to new year groups and key stages

During last year’s Challenge, children read almost 12 million books

It’s simple and free for every child to take part, and libraries run free activities for families throughout the holidays

Aids the successful transition between year groups and key stages

Contributes to all pupils’ achievement and encourages extra-curricular activity

For children who took part in 2025:

97% of participants increased or maintained reading enjoyment

73% read more over the summer – and 98% are now reading every day or nearly every day

62% of families talk more together about books and reading

How it works:

Children can sign up at their local   East Riding library, where they will receive a special sticker booklet

They set a summer reading goal and choose books, eBooks, or audiobooks of their choice – logging their reading will earn rewards such as stickers, bookmarks and special edition collector cards.

Libraries will be running a programme of free themed events and activities!

Children who complete the Challenge are presented with a certificate and a medal.

Children can take part online if they prefer! www.summerreadingchallenge.org.uk

An Absence from School for Exceptional Circumstances Request Form, must be completed for all absences (not medical).  https://www.snaithprimary.org.uk/page/?title=Attendance+%26amp%3B+Punctuality&pid=77

Please can I remind parents that school is not able to authorise any holidays during term time. Therefore, it is important to consult these dates before making any booking.  Penalty Notice Fines are issued on a per parent per child basis for term time leave of 5 (10 sessions) or more consecutive days.

As school is in session during these times, if your child does not attend school due to an unauthorised absence, school will not provide work for this period of time as children are expected to attend school to undertake their learning.

Penalty Notice Fines are also considered, if a child has 10 sessions of unauthorised absence in 10 school weeks. If a child is collected mid-session for a term-time holiday, the whole session will be unauthorised.

We are committed to improving achievement through attendance, and any pupil whose attendance falls below 97% becomes a cause for concern.  Attendance below 90% is classed by the Government as persistent absence. If a child’s attendance falls below 90% we refer all cases to the Education Welfare Office at East Riding Council, who is likely to contact parents directly to give support and discuss the matter.

(Parent, in relation to a child or young person, includes any person who is not a parent of the child but who has parental responsibility for the child, or who has care of them).
