A REMINDER SCHOOL CLOSES TO CHILDREN FOR THE FEBRUARY HALF TERM BREAK ON FRIDAY 13TH FEBRUARY AND RE-OPENS TO CHILDREN ON MONDAY 23rd FEBRUARY
Children’s Mental Health Week 9th-13th February
This year's official theme is 'This is My Place' with a focus on ‘belonging’ and a sense of identity.
As part of this, we are encouraging everyone to ‘Come as yourself’ on Friday 13th and wear the clothes/outfit they feel most comfortable or confident in. This could be anything from their cosy clothes, to cultural dress or favourite colour for a donation of £1.
Over the course of the week children will explore the importance of belonging through a range of activities and also explore healthy lifestyles, we will also be creating a whole school art display.
At school, we are working hard behind the scenes to significantly develop our outdoor area and facilities in order to promote an environment that will ultimately benefit children’s wellness and wellbeing, all funds raised will go towards this project.

Today you will have received an email regarding parents’ evenings and how to book. These are being held during the week beginning 2nd March. You will be able to book either an in-person meeting or an online meeting via a video link.
Termly Support Plans
For parents of children with Termly Support Plans, teachers will contact you directly to book an appointment to review learning, please do not book a parent evening slot.
Mid-year reports will be sent out prior to your appointments.
Science Talks – Thank you.
This week a number of parents who have careers in Science based work have kindly given their time to come into school and talk about their jobs and the work they do. These have been very inspirational and the children have loved making the links between the learning they do in school and how this applies to the ‘real world’, as well as being inspired for jobs in the future. Thank you to everyone who has visited already to support the children and for those visiting next week we look forward to your presentations.

In advance of Safer Internet Day (SID) next Tuesday (10th Feb 2026), the organisation we subscribe to has produced an additional newsletter based around SID’s theme. A copy is attached to this email or click on the link below.

An Absence from School for Exceptional Circumstances Request Form, must be completed for all absences (not medical). https://www.snaithprimary.org.uk/page/?title=Attendance+%26amp%3B+Punctuality&pid=77
Please can I remind parents that school is not able to authorise any holidays during term time. Therefore, it is important to consult these dates before making any booking. Penalty Notice Fines are issued on a per parent per child basis for term time leave of 5 (10 sessions) or more consecutive days.
As school is in session during these times, if your child does not attend school due to an unauthorised absence, school will not provide work for this period of time as children are expected to attend school to undertake their learning.
Penalty Notice Fines are also considered, if a child has 10 sessions of unauthorised absence in 10 school weeks.
We are committed to improving achievement through attendance, and any pupil whose attendance falls below 97% becomes a cause for concern. Attendance below 90% is classed by the Government as persistent absence. If a child’s attendance falls below 90% we refer all cases to the Education Welfare Office at East Riding Council, who is likely to contact parents directly to give support and discuss the matter.
(Parent, in relation to a child or young person, includes any person who is not a parent of the child but who has parental responsibility for the child, or who has care of them).
