Snaith Primary School

Miss Todd's and Mrs Millard's Class

Welcome to our class page!

We are a happy and enthusiastic class that strives to achieve our very best.

Our Class Team

Miss Todd and Mrs Millard share the class. Miss Todd teaches Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and Mrs Millard teaches Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Mrs Radmall also teaches some lessons as well as teaching intervention groups.

Miss Todd is Art and PSHE lead in school and Mrs Millard is the school's Music lead to expect a lot of wonderfully creative times in the class this year!

Our Class Rules

To be polite and show kindness to each other.

To listen carefully to others.

To keep ourselves and each other safe.

To always try our best.

To show respect to everyone and everything.

P.E. days

Our P.E. lessons are on Wednesday and Friday. On these days the children are to come to school in their P.E. kit; white T-shirt, plain black jogging bottoms (no logos)/shorts and school jumper or cardigan. Children should also wear trainers on these days.

Spellings

Children will be given a list of spellings to learn every Tuesday. The children will be taught the spelling rules during lessons, but we ask that you practise these spellings with your children at home. The children will be tested the following Monday in class where they then will receive a new list to learn. Children are set 10 spellings each week and will progress through the spelling programme. Spellings focus on spelling rules in line with the curriculum.

Reading

In Year 4 children are given more freedom to select their own reading materials from either the class library or the new school library. It is the expectation that children read at least 3 times a week at home. Each child has a reading diary to take home, which a parent or carer is to sign every time a child reads. As the year goes on we will have reading incentives and competitions to keep children motivated. Please return reading diaries every Monday.

Reading Plus

As well as reading their own choice of reading book the children are also expected to complete 2 reading assignments on Reading Plus at home each week. This will support the 3 reading sessions covered in class each week and will contribute to the league table that the teachers have access to.

Maths Homework

Number facts and timetables are essential in having a firm foundation in Maths. With this in mind we expect children to practise their timetables at home using the  Times Tables Rockstars program. Login in details have been provided by your class teacher, but please do not hesitate to ask if there are any problems.
