We are delighted to announce that next week we will be taking receipt of a defibrillator machine. It will be located in reception where it will be safe and monitored. Hopefully, this is something we will never need to use, but I am sure you will agree that this gives our whole community reassurance by having it on site.
Later in the year, we will be having a focus on healthy hearts and healthy minds with some fundraising for this cause.
A number of parents have asked for clarification regarding absence if a child has been sick. We have looked into this and reviewed our guidance to reflect our view of a sensible approach. While, like you, we do not want children missing education unnecessarily we also take seriously our duty to prevent the spread of illness. With this in mind, our school guidance is as follows.
- For a single instance of sickness/diarrhoea children should remain off school for 24 hours from the time of illness.
- Where a number of instances of vomiting/diarrhoea have taken place we follow the Public Health England guidance of 48 hours absence from the last occasion in order to prevent the spread of infection.
We ask all parents to inform us of any absence daily and to seek any further clarification.
Thank you for your understanding and support in keeping all of our children well.
