Snaith Primary School

Monday 30th March

Bonjour!

We hope that you have all had a fun and relaxing weekend?

Today's task is focused on learning how to say the colours in French and to explore how to express your opinions about them.

Resources:

  • Colours and opinions PowerPoint uploaded below
  • (You will need to play the slideshow from the start for these tasks.)

Tasks:

  1. Play slides 2-9 and listen to/ say the colours in French. You might want to write them in your exercise book or make a small poster or matching game to help you to remember them.
  2. Slide 10: Can you predict which colour the football will hit next? Say it in French!
  3. Slides 11-12: What do you think J’adore ça and Je déteste ça mean? Write each phrase in your exercise book with your translation.
  4. Slide 13: Which colours do the people like or dislike?
  5.  Slide 14: Answers to the quiz - check your answers!
  6. Slide 15 – 21: Look at the colour and say whether you love it or hate it. For example, Slide 15 bleu (blue).
  • If you like it say “J’adore bleu.”
  • If you dislike it say “Je déteste bleu.”
  • (IMPORTANT: Do not add ça before the colour as it means ‘it’).

Remember to practise your spellings every day. Uploaded below are some new activities to help you to practise them in different ways.

To think about: What do the root words ‘phone’ and ‘real’ mean and how are these meanings changed by adding prefixes (a group of letters at the beginning of the word) and suffixes (a group of letters at the end of the word) to them?

What do the prefixes micro, tele, homo and un mean? Use an online dictionary to look them up and write them in your exercise book.
