Our priorities and how we will use our pupil premium funding

PUPIL PREMIUM BUDGET

Pupil premium is additional funding for schools to support them in raising the attainment of disadvantaged pupils of all abilities and to diminish the difference between them and their peers.

For 2019/20 the Government have allocated £1320 per pupil for deprivation, £300 per pupil for service children and £1900 per pupil for post looked after children.

Following careful evaluation of the attainment and progress of children of disadvantage in 2019/20 through discussion with children, their families, statutory and non-statutory data the following priorities have been identified for the academic year 2019/20.

All pupil premium children participate in   enhanced curriculum experiences to widen and deepen their understanding – increasing their access to learning.

To improve attainment and progress through regular attendance.

Careful monitoring by school administrator and head teacher.

Phone calls, meetings and letters to parents.

Work with outside medical support teams for specific individuals where medical need affects attendance.

Provision of work and resources for children when not in school.

To widen pupil vocabulary and increase aspiration. (Whole school initiative.)

Reading material and amended lesson structures to ensure that there is a high focus on developing pupil vocabulary – research demonstrates that this is a major contributing factor to raising achievement and aspiration for disadvantaged pupils

To improve the quality of basic skills literacy/numeracy skills through specific intervention programmes outlined below.
