Absence from School and Term Time Holiday

I would like to summarise the East Riding Guidelines for absence from school.  Further information will be published on our website from Tuesday next week. 

Parents are required to complete ‘Absence from school for Exceptional Circumstances form’ (available from the school office or website) for all absences from school (with exception of illness). 

We have to advise you that 

term time holidays are not authorised. The local authority issue penalty notices when a child has accrued  5 or more days (10 sessions) of absence. Penalty notices are issued per child, to each parent, whether married or not, any person who has parental responsibility; and, any person who has care of a child. 

If your child’s absence is authorised due to exceptional circumstances supporting documentation is required eg. wedding invitation, medical rehabilitation from a medical issue note.
