Comenius Project

The Comenius Programme is named after Jan Amos Comenius, often considered the father of modern education.

Comenius is aimed at schools, colleges and local authorities across Europe.

Comenius has two main objectives:

To develop knowledge and understanding among young people and education staff of the diversity of European cultures and languages, and the value of this diversity.

To help young people to acquire basic life skills and competences for their personal development, for future employment and for active European citizenship.

The countries that are involved in the project are:

France

Finland

Wales

Hungary

Italy

Ireland

Catalonia

England

This year 2009 our school is looking at 'A Day In The Life' and we are linking this to the influence if local environments on the food eaten in those areas.

This will be done in the following areas:

A study of native crops farmed in the local area.

A study of animals farmed in the area.

A study of how these farm animals and crops have influenced local culinary heritage.

Lists of local food produce.

A study of the importance of using local crops and the environmental impact of food miles.

A study of food eaten locally.
